Preventive maintenance for automatic barriers: a practical guide

2026-06-16 · Baroxon

A well-maintained automatic barrier exceeds five million cycles. Most breakdowns stem from missed servicing rather than natural wear.

Every 3 months

Check the boom and its rubber profile, clean the photocells and confirm that automatic reverse works correctly.

Every 6 months

Check the limit switch adjustment, the tightness of the bracket bolts and the condition of the control board. On heavily used barriers, grease the transmission mechanism.

Every 12 months

Replace wear parts (rubbers, springs, bearings), test the backup battery if fitted and verify the tightening torque of the floor anchors.

Warning signs

Abnormal noise during movement, slower-than-usual opening, a boom that does not sit level or closing without reverse all indicate the unit needs attention before it stops working.

Baroxon supplies spares and wear parts for its own barriers and for third-party equipment, with 3-7 working days delivery for stock items.
