Choosing the right automatic barrier comes down to four factors: lane width, traffic volume, vehicle types and site conditions.
A 3 m boom is usually enough for a single lane. For two lanes choose 4-6 m. Where headroom is limited, on ramps or in basements, an articulated boom works better than a straight one.
For residential communities and ordinary car parks a 3-6 s opening time is ample. Toll lanes, high-turnover car parks and fleet access benefit from 0.9-2 s with 24 V DC brushless motors.
Barriers run on AC 110 V or 220 V depending on the country. The 24 V DC versions accept a backup battery, which is worth having where a power cut would otherwise block the entrance.
Every barrier should include photocells, a loop detector or radar, and automatic reverse. For ticketless access the barrier must accept ANPR/LPR plate reading, UHF RFID or remote control.
Baroxon manufactures straight and articulated booms up to 8 m, with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, a 12-month warranty and technical support in English and Spanish.
